Our diploma and certificate programs are taught by
practicing professionals. Because they work in the

the spa industry, where the information is constantly

STIA's exclusive program
consists of small class rooms, with no more than a 3 to 1
student to instructor ratio and a Practicum in a working spa.
The Program has been designed to prepare students for
careers as Aestheticians, able to provide the entire range of
professional services offered in today's aesthetics salons and spas.
Students will also be trained in the psychology of selling, and the
practicalities of sales within the salon and spa environment.
The Program integrates theory and practical work, with
over 50% of the curriculum devoted to practical application of
classroom theory and techniques.
Professional practice in the Spa at
Just For You Day Spa is a unique
component of the Program. Throughout the Program, all students are
required to work in the Spa to apply and practise
techniques and skills. A instructor or technician will be on
duty at all times to reinforce theory and to ensure professional
standards are maintained.
Aesthetics Diploma Course
Upon completion of this course, the
learner should be able to:
- Understand the concept of skin care and the history of
esthetics.
- Describe the physical properties of the skin, muscles,
nerves, and bones of the head, face, and neck.
- Practice proper sanitation and disinfection procedures.
- Describe the various equipment, tools, and supplies used in
the skin care salon.
- Describe various room setup procedures and equipment
maintenance steps.
- Analyze a client's skin type and identify various skin
conditions, as well as the proper techniques for screening and
analysis.
- Perform basic facial skills, including those involved in
men's facials.
- Display an understanding of the basic chemistry of skin care
products and pharmacology.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the analysis and
treatment of aging and sun-damaged skin.
- Describe the various step-by-step treatments for sensitive,
damaged, ethnic, acne-prone, and aging skin.
- Describe the various hair-removal techniques, and
demonstrate a thorough understanding of FDA regulations.
- Demonstrate the principles of color, face shapes, and makeup
tools and products, as well as step-by-step makeup application
techniques.
- Describe the various career opportunities available in
clinical skin care.
- Understand the concepts of surgical treatments, pre- and
postoperative patient care, and camouflage therapy.
- Communicate effectively with clients in order to determine
their needs before proceeding with any service.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude with clients, coworkers,
and employers.
- Incorporate retailing and marketing skills into aesthetics
services.
- Practice healthful work habits, correct posture, and proper
grooming
Milady's Theory and Practice of Therapeutic
Massage
After completing this course, you
